I liked the bokeh in this shot, which reminded me of a cluster of grapes.

The best thing about photographing snowflakes on leaves is that the leaf, in itself, it a work of art.  So even though the winter day was warm and my snowflake was melting, the character and color of the leaf make up for the shortcomings of the snowflake.

Like any good relationship, the two together create something better.

My cat Charlie keeps curling up his tail vertically on top of the keyboard, so when I go back to type, my hand wants to kink his tail.  He finds this very annoying, and he's made it very clear he thinks I should stop this awful typing altogether   =^..^=

Color My World

I was surprised to find a perfect match to all of these outlet colors in my crayon box.  Even the 'metallic' gold and silver were represented.

Isn't it great to see something colorful and utilitarian?!

Every time I got to the beach, I think to myself

"Nope, not this time!  This time I'm not going get my shoes wet!  I'm not going to end up with sand all over everything!"

And every time, there's always one wave that catches me striding too close to the surf.  And once you're carrying wet shoes and socks and walking with sand stuck to your legs, it is really that much worse to get all the way down on the ground to capture a neat photo?  Well, I didn't think so.

So here's the beach seen through a cracked log.  I was laying on my tummy with sand going down my shirt, trying to line it up just right, hoping there were no centipedes or scorpions living in that log.  I survived.  Another rental car got extra sandy.  All in a day's work.

It's 4 o'clock somewhere

As a matter of fact, it's 4 o'clock here.  4am, that is.  But my last post got a warm reception, so I'm wondering if that photo was just that good (maybe), or if 4am is a rockin' time here on G+ (more likely).  Let's see how this one does…

This is a Four O'clock flower bud just starting to open.  I thought it's shape was interesting and I liked the light and shadow play.

I had a heck of a time all summer with my Four O'clocks.  They really don't open during the heat of the day, and we had a hot summer for so long they didn't seem to open at all.  I theorized that they were opening in the cool hours of the morning, but of course there's no way to test that theory.

Finally, the weather cooled and the Four O'clocks showed me their beautiful flowers and it was well worth the wait.  I took photos one evening and always planned to shoot more, but the time got away from me for now they are gone.  They should be back next year – Four O'clocks self seed like crazy 🙂
