This is the funniest thing I've read in… ever!

I guess I won't use the word "epic" in my advertizing.  I may never use it again!  Or maybe I'll use it all the time!  Hmmm…

Out of all the citizens in America, why are we left with 2 presidential candidates…

Out of all the citizens in America, why are we left with 2 presidential candidates that make us want to hide under the covers until the election is over?  Is this some kind of conspiracy designed to keep us distracted from the real problems?  How could this possibly be as good as it gets?

I fondly remember the time I was inspired to vote for a candidate.  Thank goodness I was around for that election!

Anyway, Joss Whedon shared his insights on the election and the video is trending like crazy.  I admit I loved Buffy and Angel, and I think Dr. Horrible is one of the best things ever put on video.  Just follow the #JossWhedon tag to find his new words of wisdom.  I find the whole election disquieting enough already, so instead, I'm sharing the Google+ ripple map, 'cause it's a really good one:

Here's a photo from the Illinois Orchid Society Fall Mini Show a couple weeks ago.  About half of the show was dedicated to rare and beautiful orchids in bloom competing for awards.  Those orchids were arranged quite artfully – some on tree sections and mossy mounds, some combined in color families like this citrus-toned collection.  I focused on the Lady Slipper and framed it with the oncidiums and cattleyas.

Happy Wednesday everybody!

I think this was my favorite acquisition from the orchid show in Chicago.  This is a Cattleya from Hauserman named Blc Eric Paul "Judy".

Orchid lovers – if you're ever in Chicago, a visit to Orchids by Hausermann is a must!  It's like a giant greenhouse complex devoted to orchids!

I loved the ruffles of this particular orchid so I decided to accentuate them with this angle.  The details show up splendidly so be sure to view it large.

I started out this week's +HACK THIS PHOTO event with a contrasted black-and-white version.  I liked the light flowers against the dark foliage, but thought  the image could use some umpf (is that how you spell that?).  So then I colored in my black-and-white image with a linear burn layer.  Happy with both results 🙂

Thank you +Stacey Harrell for supplying the lovely image for us to hack!

Here's some rusty old farm equipment for today's  #Broken  theme.  Whatever this contraption is, it has certainly been broken for decades.  That's part of the charm of an old country farm – "antique" stuff just sits around and keeps accumulating rust and mildew and other markings of "character".

The city of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia as seen from the Story Bridge over Brisbane River.  This is a more colorful version of a Google Street View which can be seen here:

Rita did a stunning rendition of this bridge earlier this week, so I had the challenge of Photoshopping it in a way that would be both interesting and original.  Of course, I always want to see the world through colorful glasses, so this is how the city might look if the bridge was enclosed in a transparent rainbow of stained glass panels.

During my time on Google+ I've been fortunate enough to meet a thoroughly awesome fellow from Brisbane, so I'd like to dedicate this work to my friend, +Steven Neo.  G'day mate!  Since I'm down (under) in your part of the world, any suggestions for cool places to visit?  Of course I'm just visiting in a virtual sense via Google Street View, which does make it easier to pack 🙂

I see this tree every morning, its arched fringe of red poison ivy making a bold contrast against all the green.
