Look closely

Zinnias are amazing.  The seductive red center is surrounded by little gold spirals, tiny yellow petals wrapped into tight coils.  Look between them and you'll see tiny red sprigs of fractal-like detail, reminiscent of a dragon's tongue or a single lick of fire.  Then you reach the fuzzy starfish.  More than a dozen of these little yellow starfish form a circle between the flower's center and the outer petals.  Their arms are like pipe cleaners, covered in dense fur to catch the dusting of golden pollen.  Among the fuzzy starfish and the first of the wide, flat petals, you can see delicate yellow strands.  The petals, you'll notice, get more and more orange the farther they are from the center.

You might have gone your whole life without ever seeing a zinnia flower.
Life's like that.
